View Full Version : The Dragon and the Ogre
nemesis_256 10-01-2005, 12:11 AM Here's a short (30 second) animation I did. Took 4 months of rather sparse free time to do, and about 5 days of rendering (because of all that fur/grass). This is the second time I do character animation, and it's a big improvement from my first. It's also my first time with organic characters (first was a robot). The only thing I didn't do are the two models (ogre and dragon). They're from a Dosch disc. Hope I get some decent replies...

Just a couple quick comments..
First, the weight seems to be off when he lands on the grass. It's a huge drop yet the landing looks as if he only fell a couple feet.
Secondly, The run could use more power, his face looks very determined. But the run looks like he's out for a jog. He's an ogre so maybe a little more hunch to the back when he runs? More of a stomp with each step?
Just ideas and it's a really great start!!

Very nice !
I agree that the landing should be tweaked. He should at least have to come down to a full knee bend, and possibly even go into a somersault, ya, I know more animating :)
Not only does his landing look a bit artificial, when you zoom in, his legs are not moving at all, he looks a bit like a statue.
The initial camera pan upwards could be a bit smoother, add a bit of ease-out to it.
Overall, though it looks great !
How did you do the water?
