View Full Version : Can't I select dark AND saturated colors???
White Knight 09-29-2005, 09:00 PM With Photoshop's square-shaped color-selector I have no problem choosing a dark AND saturated color.
But with Painter's triangular color-selector it seems to be impossible to do that!?!
What on earth am I missing here???

Hi White Knight,
It's easy. In the Colors palette, move the small circle in the Saturation/Value Triangle right or left to set the Saturation and up or down to set the Value.
If you want a dark, saturated red, for instance, first choose the red you want by moving the small circle around the Hue ring.
Move the small circle in the Saturation/Value triangle all the way to the right point for fully saturated color with no black in it.

Then move it along the bottom edge of the Saturation/Value triangle toward the left point until you have the Value you want. In the HSV value box in the lower right corner of the Colors palette, you should see:
H: (whatever red you chose)
S:100%
V: (whatever value you chose).

Hi Jinny,
Thanks for another excellent reply.
I think my problem with my dark colors looking unsaturated had to do with another issue I've run into: paint (at least digital watercolor) seems to act differently when not on the canvas-layer... (see my new thread).
