CGTalk - Lightening speed

I'm working with the AE lightening effect (Effects-Render-Lightening) and am wondering if there is a way to slow down the jitter of the effect. The Speed setting seems to have no discernible effect. As is, the bolts jump wildly from frame to frame. I'd like to be able to slow this way down so as to be able to see a more gradual evolution from frame to frame.

No, Just nobody knew what Lightening was :P:D

Render it out with an alpha and reimport it and scale the speed.

what exactly do you mean by "jittery".
