Hello, i am about to do an animation for my upcoming website, and in it there is going to be a lot of running. There must be a way to make him run and keep running instead of keyframing each individual joint again and again. I tried looking in the animation forum and i heard a lot about animation cycles but no tutorials. Any help would be wonderful.

take a look at the maya docs > animation > non linear animation > trax

Yeah, i agree, clips are great for repeating and / or blending animation. you can even key on top of them, stack them, export them, or modify them later. The only downside I've found is that you have to make character sets to make a clip, and I don't like character sets much.

What?! Character sets make pose-to-pose animation a dream! Oh well, to each his own.

ok maybe it's just me then, since I'm still learning, but character sets work great pose-to-pose but they also get messy quick. pose-to-pose can be done with clips in trax editor as well.

Hehe, the whole point of character sets is to keep things organized and easily accessable. Using Trax for pose-to-pose when you're not doing any NLA animation just overcomplicates it.

know any good tutes on handling character sets? specifically sub-character sets, or adding animatable attributes and things like that?

btw, badass name+avatar =)
