Title: Wesley The Goblin
Name: Mathias Müller
Country: Germany
Software: Photoshop, ZBrush

Hi, that's my first post here on cgtalk, i never made something which could fit the level of cgtalk, so i never posted, but i think my little wesley reached the level of quality (i hope so ;) ).

So here it is, it's only my first post on cgtalk no that is also my first real attemp on using ZBrush. We (the guys on 3d-ring.de) made a contest in ZBrush. On of our Users made a lowpoly model of Wesley the Goblin and provided it to the community, so that we together will work on that character. The sense is not to see who is the best zbrusher, no the goal is to see who learned the most, so we posted also WIP's in the competition thread, and so you can see the steps.

And that is my Wesley, it's mostly inspired by the Gremlins ;)

I worked for 6 hours on the model and texture and maybe half an hour for the composite in photoshop.

hope you like it, he got about 1000k poly's

cheers

I like the luminous skin texture and the neck muscles. The eyes seem kind of dull. I just started using Zbrush myself, and one thing I didn't like was doing an eyeball- it seemed like something I'd want to export and build a shader in a separate application for the eye. The facial model has nice expression, but needs more refinement for my tastes. Finally- I think the lighting might be off compared to the BG: the back tree has sunlight hitting from our right, but the character has its hot point on our left. Sounds like you whipped this out quick- which is impressive.

Good job and good luck
Craig
