View Full Version : Focus View
kyuketsuki 09-28-2005, 02:27 PM I am making the transition from Maya to ZBrush and for the life of me I can't find any information on this question here or at ZBrushCentral. When working in Maya you can press "F" to focus the viewing rotational point to the area you are working in. In ZBrush you can do this with the entire object, but I don't know how to do this on a particular area. For example, I am working on a human model and I want to do a lot of work on her face, when I rotate it uses the objects center as the rotational point. Even when I hide the rest of the object and only reveal the head, I still rotate the view based on the objects center
Any help?
Thanks

Normally the pivot point is the center of rotation but enabling Transform > Local will rotate your model around the last edited vertice. The pivot point will remain unaffected.
The Transform > S. Pivot (set pivot point) button sets the pivot point to the center of the currently visible geometry. You can reset the pivot point back to its original position with Transform > C. Pivot (clear pivot point).
The Pivot Point is the center for all Tool > Deformations, Symmetry axis, importing of geometry and morph targets (a morph target can have a different pivot point than the current one).
I don't know if you have seen the ZBrush Classroom (http://pixologic.com/zbrush/class/classroom.html) at Pixologics homepage. I believe the above is mentioned in one of the quickstart guides. In any case the guides are recommended reading.

Thank you so much, I wasn't sure if enough people came to this area to help me.
Again, thanks!
