Hello all. This is an image from a dream in which I was slowly moving down something halfway between a waterslide and a canal inside of a cave. The end result will be an animation.

Please critique the lighting/texturing/modeling, basically everything :D

I just switched over to the Mental Ray renderer to get some caustic effects from the water. I'm somewhat new to Mental Ray so any MR advice would be appreciated.

I'd also like some advice on the fluorescent light. I feel it is too videogame-modely, so any advice on fixing that would be great.

Using Maya 6.5

looks interesting and very moody. I suggest dirtying up the waterslide more since it is inside a canal. The light fixture's glow is too strong, i'd turn it down and focus on the shaders of the light bulbs, to give a hint that it is there even though the glow is apparent. Also with the light that bright in your picture, it should lit up the side of the waterslide pretty prominently. Other than that, i strongly advice to put more elements to the picture other than what is already present. Maybe some gooish substance dripping down from the ceiling and some eerie smoke composite to give it more edge.
