Latest addition to my showreel (which seems to be taking ages to get done!) I give you the future of chicken farming!! :thumbsup: its intended as an enemy within a game and as such is low poly. Once its textured it will be more of a zombified mechanical chicken! I got this idea in a dream by the way and it was quite possibly the weirdest dream ever!

One crit. The minute bevels on those cylinders on the legs seem a bit overkill, seeing you can hardly see them. Detail like that is fine, provided it's noticeable. I'd rather have used those polys on the cylinders of the joints/knees.

Looks great! The design made me chuckle! I agree - i was expecting some curvy robot lass with a shiny metal ass and lug nuts for nipples, but was pleasantly surprised!
Like the design of the chicken - especially from the front (love that wall-eyed stare!) and i like the fact that hes not actually cybernetic, but just sitting on a nest with robotic legs. I think the legs look a bit straight from the front view - it would be nice to have them spread a tiny bit out. I think it would be ace if you made that small round area at the back of the mechanism a flap for the eggs to come out of? Sorry if that has been your intention all along! It would be cool if he runs around clumsily, laying bad eggs that could act as mines!

lovely model, very Wallice and Gromit, if he had a gun it would fire different kinds of eggs, scrambled, hard boilded, and super ommlete.

andy h - you are spot on dude with the flap at the back, lol! it does open and i did think of like rotten eggs that act like mines. Also the legs will be spread once he's rigged up.
My intention is just to produce a turntable of the finished model for my showreel at first but also have him shakin a bit to show theres an engine of some kind chuggin away in there with a few smoke plumes from the exhausts.
will post the finished model soon before i begin to texture, have a few more bits to add to him.

Started on the texturing. Gonna give him a bit of a rustic look i think, especially in the legs. Exposed metal where paint has worn off etc. feel free to crit

i'm trying to use alpha channels in the creation of the straw textures but i cant seem to get it to work. Does anyone know how to use alpha channels in XSI 4.2?

makes me remember the psychonauts game :D looks good man !! althout the texture is a bit blurry...well...its cartoony so dont mind me words:P
Nurbguy, this is really class! Definitely has a Wallace & Gromit feel to it. Love those eyes though and looking forward to see how you texture the body (white with a few feathers, or feathered or...?) :thumbsup:
