What is the clue to get good multipass files to use in AE?
I have an animation of a lavalamp, but I dont need to render all parts of it as it's only the lava that is animated. I figure i'll be needing the lava, the refraction pass, transparancy pass, shadow pass, and of course the lamp and the different objects in the scene, but only the lava (and it's shadow) is animated. How would I set up a scene like this for multipass rendering and efficient compositing in ae?
Should I render using the object buffer, or just turn off rendering for different objects. If I render the anim without background, then this background wont be visible through the lavalamp bottle, would it?
Now if I have these multipass files, in AE, what layer transfer mode should I use? I remember reading something in an older discussion about add mode, but then my composition is all white.
I am a newbie to compositing, so I'm not sure if you people even understand my question. :)
