Yeah, I think that's kind of expensive in my opinion UNLESS the training on there is top notch and very effective and thorough.

It seems like this kind of thing is a toss up for whether it's worth the money or not.

I just hate it when books, cd's, dvd's, or whatever else out there for training are just simple regurgitated info that you already get easily enough from the manuals, etc.

The future dvd's look a lot better because they seem more focused.

Sounds good... but in order to tell the truth the best learnmethod are some forums and tutorials in the internet :-) But thats only my oppinion :-)

that's obviously not the case...

there are very good books out there that teach you the basics, what's behind the art. i don't need a tutorial to tell me where to click in my app...and that's just what the vast majority of tutorials does

What I'd really like to see is an advance rigging and model set-up DVD. Perhaps that's covered in the Characer modeling one? And an advance material DVD would be sweet.

Rayfusion: Agreed on the price issue. On the bright side, at least it's an option for those of you in the Sates or Canada, doesn't look like it's even available this side of the pond...

I work for a reseller and part of our obligation to continue to sell max after the release of version 5 was that someone on staff had to take a course and then pass a test that covered the new features of max 5. I ended up being the lucky guy to take the course/test and was givin an online version of the course (as oppposed to an instructor lead course), and like 6 webcast sessions (placeware) with an instructor.

My point that I am getting at is that the outline for this DVD is EXACTLY the same titles as the modules of the course that I took and to say the least would not be worth your money for $129.00. If you have a copy of max 5 the last few chapters in the book that cover the new features are for the most part a little more in-depth than the courseware for the course I took.

better buy this one,

http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=28301

it's cheaper, doesn't need a DVD and you can hide your PYBY in it,
seems like a terrible book,
thanks to Dan for putting it up
