Hi all!

This was CONCEIVED, WRITTEN and SHOT in one night. I hope you all enjoy this fun little short my friends and I put together.

We shot on a tiny Panasonic 3CCD DV camera, and edited in Premiere Pro. Nice and fun and simple.

I know this isn't an animation, but I wanted some feedback, and trust you people over some random forum elsewhere.

A computer was used in the process, and it arguably has animation in it though, right?

LATER!

Eric (and Nick and Joy)

After about a minute I just started skippin forward trying to find any animation I could. I did not find any animation. Was there any?

If this is just a short film, there are other forums to get the feedback you seek - otherwise you're going to get a lot of "This isn't animation" or no reply at all.

However, having watched the first minute and a half, I like the whole spooky documentary style, but the acting was lacking. Having watched only 1/3 of the film, I shall say no more.

Though it's not an animation you guys still deserve some props, but you should probably go to more of a film oriented thread for better critiqing. The camera angles were nice and simple, but I was a most impressed by the lighting you guys were able to pull off. Usually when I see films put in black and white I get judgemental because they very often can turn grey and too soft, as well as trying to look far too pompous and artsy. The plot will get deeper I'm sure, but as for now... well the veiwers are waiting for something good to happen.

No, it's not animation. It's just a goofy scene that we wrote and shot quickly. I wanted to share it with more people than my friends. The opacity on the text is animated though, so I guess that counts as the animation.

Enjoy, it's supposed to be fun!

hey guys, don't listen to the negative comments, that was the best short i ve seen for a long time. Who cares whether its animation or not. At the end of the day is all about entertainment right and some of the animation you can sometimes see out there is damn right depressing. In my opinion your short is more than welcome and shows an understanding of film/ camera and lighting techniques which animators can take inspiration from. It definately makes me wonder why I spend hours hours in front of a computer, working on one still image or one ten second animation when you guys can create a fun quirky short using a hand held camera!

The CG society can learn something here!

I thought it was clever and well done for just slapping something together. I thought some of the camera shots could've been a little tighter, for example: when the 2 guys are on the couch initially maybe close in on their faces this really would've been good when they put their glasses on. As goofy as the guy is with the goggles I don't think the viewer would have a problem with viewing his mug up close. I do however agree with some other posts, if you're looking for a good film forum go to vfxtalk for film opinions.

Hey. Don't talk too much shit on the Harold Rosenbaum. That's me. Playing a goofy character. And I'll beat you up.

Yes, wrong forum. But I have a CGTalk account. And I value the opinions of CGTalk-ers.

If 2D Drawings done on the computer can be posted in their seperate section, then it is perfectly reasonable for a video shot on DV, then edited on a computer to be acceptable on CGTalk.

That's a really good point. I just came up with it. Like...just now.

What I was implying, with the goofy comment, is that you might not do a tight intimate shot with a killer. However, the character/s are goofy hence it would be perfectly acceptable to use a tight close-up allowing the viewers a more intimate or accepting perspective of the characters. And I agree, so long as there are elements in a film which are CG, it should have a forum or location on this site.
