View Full Version : 3D :: Flying over the forest
slime 11-10-2002, 03:27 AM Hi!
I just made this scene yesterday and wanted to show you to get some feedback. It's part of an animation. That's the reason for the motin blur; the camera is moving very fast.
Mmh, it seems that I like natural environments. :D
Please post some comments.
By the way, I did a tutorial about the cloud scene. a lot of people were asking.
Regards!
Daniel.

Thanks for the replies!
The software is 3DStudio MAX.
Rather than posting a non blurred frame or wireframe, I will upload the animation to my site soon. ;)

I just viewed your site - I really like it. The images were very impressive.
I too would love to see a tutorial on how you did the trees.
Thanks for sharing your artwork with the rest of us. :)

Hi.
I have uploaded the video.
You can download it here:
http://www.wonderslime.com/misc/17-final3-.avi
( DIVX 5 ) 3MB 1024x576
It's compressed in the original resolution [1024x576] , so you must have a good computer to see it.
post some crits, please. :)
Regards.
Daniel.

I liked the animation quite a bit, but two things stood out to me:
1. The lighting seems to change quickly and randomly, from dark to light to dark again. Is it from (rapidly) moving clouds above, or whatever is "seeing" the scene is casting shadows? (like an airplane or dragon)
2. The trees look very lush and detailed. However I noticed that so many of them look exactly alike and I see that they are all facing the same direction. It looks like they are textures placed on flat planes.
Really great work though. Not photo-realistic, but pretty impressive if it is part of a longer movie that is totally cg. Keep showing us more!
