View Full Version : Animation with Flex Modifier - Primary and secondary motion problem

I am working on a fish animation (coelacanth). The fish has a lot of lobe-like fins, which I want to give a soft deformation with the Flex Modifier so that the ends of the fins perform a nice motion delay following the bone that moves the mesh of the fin. This works pretty good so far. But now I have the Problem, that the fish itself has a motion, since it swims along a path constraint. The primary motion of the fish messes up the flexx behaviour of the fins. Is there any way to seperate it, so that the flex used on the fins doesnt react on the fishmotion?
...any idea?

have you localised the flex modifier to only affect the verts of the fins?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have done this.. thats why only the lobe like part of the fin moves... A friend reminded me at baking animations with PointCache, maybe this will be a solution for my purposes?!.. will get to try this later on tonite I hope.
