Hey all!
Just got a version of my modeling reel up on my site, thought I would share it with anyone who'd like to take a peek. As always, the reel is in an evolving state, a constant W.I.P if you will. Feel free to give me some crits, let's keep 'em constructive. Thanks for looking.......

Hi

Your models looks great, but I think your reel is too long. The models turns too many times. It's nice that you show full texture, occlusion and wire, but just a couple of turns would be enough. That only my humble opinion tho.

Good luck

Just out of curiousity, how long would be optimum? Anyone have any suggestions? Would love to have some more crits as well....

Thanks,

yeah the models turn too fast look at some other reels on here to see how fast they turn their models... other than that its a good start and i like the opening and closing contact info...

rowan, both reel versions are compressed with the h.264 codec, media player 10 should play the .mpeg just fine, but you need to update to quicktime 7 to play the .mov.

hi,
i think the models are spinning too fast, u can't really see them well, and u get dizzy cos of the spin...i find that you put too many things..instead of that maybe you could work a bit more each model...for example, the rhino model, right now it doesnt look good, and the topology is a bit messy...I don't find a rhino very interesting from a 3d point of view, but if you put one in ur reel, try to make it look brilliant, not just allright...we could extrapolate that to the rest of the models, don't get me wrong, is not that ur models are bad, but i think you should try to work a bit more on them and the level of the reel would raise quite a lot,
I'm just trying to do some constructive critics here...I hope u won't get upset :)
good luck!

as other people have already said, your spins are way too fast and you spend too much time on each model. Slow down the spins and really you should only rotate around each model once. Show a third of the rotation as shaded then another third as shaded with wire and then the last third as rendered. You shouldn't repeat rotations because you will bore the people watching the reel so rather than have a bunch of fast rotations, slow it down and rotate around it only once. Don't slow it down too much though. Remember that employers might watch as little as 15 seconds of your reel before they turn it off and if you waste all that time on one model, you might suffer for it.
