I'm just learning my way aroud Max 5 and I was wondering what are all the meshtool tools? I've seen select ring and loop but I dont what the others are.

Well, if you're talking about polygon modeling tools, they're all there in EditablePoly. If you're talking about Laszlo's Meshtools scripts, you can find them here www.scriptspot.com

dont bother with the ones from script spot if you have max 5
on your second cd you will have a copy of meshtools 3 for max 5 you can only download 2.5 from the web as of yet and its not real stable with max 5

Ok but I still want to know what are all the meshtools names. Such as select ring, select loop and connect.... Please give me a list of these if you can.

Straight from the meshtools readme file:

Tools included:
Selection tools:
EdgeLoop select
EdgeRing select
Subobject selection Grow
Subobject selection Shrink
Polygon Outline Select
SO selection converting tools
Shared SO selecting tools

Geometry changing tools:
Connect-1 (Bridge)
Connect-2,3
DivideEdge 2,3,4
Erasevertex (2 methods)
Tighten (don't use from quad menu! /scripting issue/)
Inset (don't use from quad menu! /scripting issue/)
Flatten Vertices X,Y,Z


If you select the meshtools section under customise UI, then all of them are there.

I dont see the meshtools section under customize UI. I've found most of them except DivideEdge, EraseVertex and Flatten.

I didnt install the scripts. Those were in there when I installed Max.

ok guys, this will probably sound like a stupid question, but...

i go into customize ui and i found meshtools. now what do i do? is the only way i can use them by setting up shortcut keys?

I feel like railing (with da doubler) BrandoCommando. :D I assume Meshtools are embedded in Max 5.

Is the meshtools section supposed to be in the Group or Category section under customize UI? I dont see them in either.

Group is Main UI, Category is Meshtools. For everybody else, if your confused about how to put the tools into the UI (to use duh! :) ) check the video below. Go easy on me though... I did it in about 3 seconds so it's not that indepth.

Right click and save as. Click here (http://www.visualboo.com/misc/meshtools.swf)
