"MR r. Braun's handiwork is just starting to be seen at Yahoo. And as he increasingly puts his stamp on the company, the rest of the media - both old and new - are watching carefully, if not nervously.

As chairman of ABC's entertainment group, Mr. Braun had a penchant for big offbeat concepts like "Lost," which won the Emmy for best drama. At Yahoo, why not create programs in genres that have worked on TV but not really on the Web? Sitcoms, dramas, talk shows, even a short daily humorous take on the news much like Jon Stewart's "Daily Show" are in the works.

There will be elaborate attention-grabbing events and video-heavy programs in nearly every category of content Yahoo offers, from sports to health. The first is called "Kevin Sites in the Hot Zone," an audio-video-photo-blog-chat room, run by Mr. Sites, an experienced foreign correspondent, who plans to visit multiple war zones over the next year."

That's so ironic. I just tried to see a little movie clip on that website. It failed twice, once at work on Firefox/Linux and once at home on Opera/Windows, always wanting me to download some plugins that don't exist or work right - and then I turn around and they are making press releases about how ambitious they will be with "TV like content." Yeah, right.

I have to agree with Jeremy. Anytime I try to watch video on yahoo, it never freaking works! It'll ask me to install some plugin, so I say okay. It installs. Then I have to restart my browser, so I do. Then I go back to the video I wanted to watch. It asks me to install some plugin, so I say okay. It installs. Then I have to restart my browser... you get the point.

Yeah I can only get it to work on IE not Forefox. Also they need to use less compression on their music videos. The few I looked at were too compressed. Not to mention the commercials they make you sit through before you can see anything. I wouldn't even mind that if the audio/video quality was better.

Cheers,
JS

That's pretty weak. It's hard to expect success if they can't get the delivery mechanism right :)
