View Full Version : Cinema 4d and a quick ice
Claudio72 11-09-2002, 08:56 PM Using SLA CHEEN I've obtained this ice looking shader.
It is not a dry ice, it's more a zero degree one. (scattering is ****ed up by roughness)
I'm still experimenting.

looks very good

looks good. I would add a bit of cracks and air holes, but so far very nice. What was the render time on that?

looks good...
fxgogo: the air holes and cracks will make it more realistic, but at the purely shader level it looks pretty damn good.

Thank's !!!
It doesn't take very much to render, it's quite a simple shader, and there's no hard to calculate things inside, only the roughness.
If I well remember it takes 2 min to render that image. I own a 2x550Mhz mac G4
I'm not experimenting anymore over the glass, I'm building up a scene using the evolution of the glass that is an eavy glass........
I will post the preview once the "WIP" is ready ...............

what is the unvisible plane in the file for?
Claudio72
04-11-2003, 06:39 PM
the plain is there to make some reflection, it's only invisible to camera
try to put a glass sphere instead of the ice obj and you can see how the plane is used for
ciao
man you have got some good ice shaders I don't think anyone makes umm better than you do.
gahh wish I was with C4D so I could try all this new stuff out.

yup Claudio72 is one clever geezer....check out his "steels" stuff...in think its in the materials sticky...well worth a look.

 thank's
Very nice ice Claudio
Stu.
Great ice and thanks for sharing, but man...
Do you have your own personal renderfarm or are you just working on the supercomputer in Geneve...?
Radiosity and volume caustics?!!
Does it really add, what it takes in rendertime?
It's beautifull but way to render intensive for my unworthy desktop calculator. :hmm:
Claudio72

no! the radiosity is completely useless and the fog effect is there only to give emphasy to the scene, so, the file is there only for the shader.

I remember also a thread about my crystal preset and some other nice improvements/presets.........does anybody remember that thread here at cgtalk or I'm a bit confused?
(I cannot find it using the search facility)
