View Full Version : Body Setup & Facial Setup by different TDīs

Iīd like to know how can two persons collaborate on a character setup... one does the body skinning then a second one does facial skinning... How can the second one continue the job of the first one?? Is it possible to add more bones and continue the weight from the point the first TD left? And dontī interfering on the weighting already done! Except for the head, of course!!
Because I never saw a tutorial that explains this trick... or itīs a tutorial that teaches body skinning, or a facial skinning one... and the guy cames only with the head to do his teaching.

One method would be to put the body rig in one mesh and the face rig in anther, then blend shape them back into a final mesh.

You can add joints to a rig after its been skinned by first selecting the skin, then the joint(s) and using Skin->Edit Smooth Skin->Add Influence. Turn on Lock Weights and it should preserve your existing weighting.

The advantage, of course, to the first method is that it allows the two TD's to work concurrently. Always a good thing.
