I think the sketch and the real you kind of do match..........But don't forget it can be a kind of toon look...........So go for it Poju. Maybe you can add a big fish jumping out of the water posed to swallow your character in whole. Just a fun thought,it would add alot of spice to the whole scene. Good luck............:beer: :)

Ok then. Heres little update, i'm pretty pleased lover part of face, but eyesocets gives me some trouble.

Next ears some wrinkles and then that body thingy, have to work out something for hairs too.

I too think the lower part of the face is great, and the top of the head is kinda hard to make look cartoony without some hair, so I don't think that's a problem either.

Yeah, a little wrinklage of the shirt might help, at least similar to how you've done the pants. I don't think you'd have to go crazy, but it's looking great! :D

lol, no,it's just that I do it so often, it might as well be a hobby. :P All of my hobbies deal with the computer in some way besides drawing, and I think many people are going with drawing as their hobby, so I thought I'd do something different. :D

When I told you to give a bit more detail to the eyes, I meant the hole where the eye is (if there's an English word for that, I dont know it) so the eye fits better.

The last one is MUCH better, and not because the lighting is different, but because the lighting is better, and more interesting as well.

Anyway, I think there are some zones that still look too dark. Add some more lights...

i'm always impressed in seeing what lightning can do to a scene!!!
i like it!!!

as said, try adding more subtle lights (perhaps a skylight from above simulating the star light ?)

and give the yellow light a warmer tone, right now it seems to come from carlights, make it more fire-like!(unless you want it to look that way, it could be cool... the guy doesn't even want to light a fire!!)

I have a couple of suggestions, I made a repaint of your pic in PS to show you.

it's mainly some DOF(gaussian in PS) to the sky and sea, to put you and your 'fishTools' in focus. as that's the main importance in the scene, at least for me.
also sharpened up your face a little to add to that effect.

I also added a slightly blue tint to the image(in PS, colorBalance, midtones: -40, -20, +50) to make it a little calmer and more relaxing. as that's seams to be one of your hobby to ;)

ofcourse nothing you have to do if you don't wan't to, just ideas. good work so far,

This update is for you, well plugins wont work in current wersion of Blender and it take some twaeking to open it in older one, but i made it for you and for DOF, i allso made my lights little cooler. I'm not sure if this is step foward, should i change lights back? And those new eyes(for some odd reason i had to make them) are too "sharp" and takes some charisma away i think. Well i keep tweaking and you keep that crit coming so we can make smethin out of this mess, ok?

really great! I tried to find something else to crit, but couldn't. just add some small things like the fish in the bucket etc.. and I think it will be even better.
hope you'll get around to texture it a little after the challenge to, I think textures in this lighting will make it just perfect.

I made few little changes and added fishing line and lil fish. Fish seems little odd, but i'm working on it. I'm not sure about DOF, ill give it a try when i work out everything else, it's pain in tha butt to tweak and render in my crappy pc(Celeron 566@850), but i'm getting there.
