i've just started playing with character studio, i have placed a biped into the world, but when i move the hips down, the legs dont bend, is this right or am i missing something?

do you guys think its better to create a rig of your own instead of character studio for animation?

You must set planted keys to the foots. Do the Character Studio Tutorials !

You don't want to use the hips, use the COM, it's the diamond looking shape in the center of the hips. If you feet are moving through the floor, then set PLANTED key frame. expand the KEY INFO menu in your motion tab after you select the foot. you will then see an icon for the planted key, small dot with a block under it. Or just set the IK BLEND TO 1.0. Same thing as planted key.

This is an old tutorial I did a few years ago. It maybe helpful if you're just getting started using CS. I think I did this for CS4, but the newer version has alot more to it, so just use this as a guide. It's a 7meg word file, so give it some time to download.
