I have posted this already a week ago, hopefuly someone will help.

I´m using Maya 4.0, WinXP.
Always when I´m rearranging graph in hypershade I get these long straight lines and tiny icons, actualy when working with more then 5 nodes (icons).

how can I make them in cascade style (zig-zag), which I saw in many tutorials - picture below, it would save a lot of space of the screen.

somebody know?

My understanding is that this is a problem endemic to Maya, i.e. the only work around is manually rearranging which is probably what was done for the screen shot. BUT, man would i love to be shown a solution for this. The same thing happens to me, the same thing happens in my classes... it seems another monitor is necessary just to deal with all the extra windows sometimes.

good luck!

that´s very strange, I didn´t think of that AliasWavefront just left this for rearranging by hand. Cause it´s so time consuming robotic work :annoyed:

I would take this instead of fluids, heh! ...for better workFLOW.

I personally don't use the Hypergraph or the hypershader. Instead you could try using the Outliner for objects, and the Multilister for texturing.

thnX I´ll try this way.

I've heard they're going to remove the Multilister in the next version, cause we're all supposed to be using the wonderful amazing Hypershade interface... Sad if it's true. I've been using the Multilister for about 10 years, I'll miss it. :)

I´m using Maya just over a year and I haven´t used that Multilister yet. Today I was kind ´a discovering and it looks handy... I hope AW won´t remove it before I can learn it

Yes, I've been looking for a solution to that since 4.0. But seems there is no hope at all. Obviously people at A|W think the straight lines is better than zig zag. I hate the straight lines because when I build my own complex shader, I can never find the nodes I want!! That why I'm sticking to Maya 3.

Maybe we should request A|W to make it optional in the next version.

oh no! I didn´t expect so many people have the same problem - even in places about 6 hours back in time.
I wanted some advice... at least I´m not alone! AW should really solve this workflow "DETAIL". If nobody from their corporation is listening I´ll drop a note at Customer Survey.:buttrock:
