I'm working on an animation and a few of my characters will have a simple 2D type face. The easiest way to describe their faces is like a lego. Basically I plan on just having a texture to give a simple eyes and mouth. I need to animate these features but have no idea how to animate a texture like that. I was thinking of just having the eyes and mouth as planes and just morphing them. Tho I'd like to learn how, or if it's possible, to animate the textures the way I described above.

I'm guessing I would have to create the various shapes of the mouth and eyes in different textures but beyond that I have no idea how to begin animating them. Oh, I'll be using 3D Max for this. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated...

Guess best way would be to create the eyes/mouth in Flash for exemple, then save it as a image sequence or movie clip, then just load it into your difuse map slot. You could also morph between textures, altho I think the 1st option is easier and straight forward.

I was actually thinking about doing an animated sequence from flash but I wasn't sure if that would actually work in the material editor. I knew .avi's would but not image sequences. It would be a lot easier that way anyways with shape tweening
