View Full Version : Light Linking with mental ray~

hey guys,

I use Maya 6.0.1. I have an object with maya layered shader. I try to break light -linking with this object and a spot light and render it with mental ray(I didn't open GI or FG), but it doesn't work. The object didn't receive the light, which is right, but it still cast shadows. I think it's the problem about layered shader because it works on other shaders(like blinn,phone, lambert..). Can someone tell me how to fix this problem??I will really apperciate that~Thanks you so much!!

well a quick fix can be to turn off cast shadows in the objects attributes. If it needs to cast a shadow from another light than you can render a quick shadow pass for compositing.

seems this is still a bug of mental ray in maya~
hope they can fix this as soon as possible~
