Hi all,
sorry it took so long but we were rather busy with 9.5 and all until recently.

http://www.maxon.de/pages/download/shader_e.html

Some (very few) shaders are not included since we weren't able to obtain written permission by the artists to host them.
Big thanks again to all who participated.

Cheers
Björn

I would have gladly given mine - only I was never requested/contacted for any approval (or, more likely, I missed the instructions on how to send it).

Will this do for an approval? Or is further correspondence necessary?

can't wait the next small competition start. I suggest maybe different kind of wood or sss materials for any object like skin, jade, stone etc.

how u think??

It would be great to have a wood or natural stone challenge. I know from an arch viz
standpoint, that being able to create photo-real wood just from shaders would save time
and help reduce cost of getting high quality wood textures.

Would also be interesting to do a natural stone challegen: i.e. granite, concrete, marble,
limestone, etc..

Just some thoughts!

I vote for wood.

You should have received an email from Maxon on the 20.07. via CG Talk.
May be your email adress in your profile isnt up to date?
Please check you PM :)

that's surely a good idea ;)

I think it would be more beneficial to run both challenges at the same time. My reasoning
for this is that many c4d users do not have the time nor the skills to do a completel
christmas scene, whereas many more are able to do shaders. Therefore, those who will
compete in the xmas scene will not be taken away by a new shader challenge.

Just my two cents!

i've missed the fabric shader challenge but a few min. ago i've visited the thread and it looks amazing with full of great shaders!

Glass Challenge or Skin(human/animal/creature) Shader Challenge would be cool. :)

Well it looks like I sliped through the cracks. Here is the one I did for the contest if anyone wants it. Its nothing great but who knows.

Old stuff from the early days of SLA
http://c4d-treff.de/ressourcen/download/holz.jpg
and the wood material files;
http://c4d-treff.de/ressourcen/sla_presets_holz.html

(holz=wood)

Lots of other goodies there too.

So if you want to do a wood challenge, the standard will have to be higher than these presets, otherwise, what's the point?

I'm not saying I could do any better than these myself from shaders,( which is why I use texture maps for timber in my interior and exterior archviz), but I'm afraid they really aren't deep or subtle enough for realistic use.

I know I would have some pretty critical comments from some of my interior designer clients if I used those in a commercial interior visual.

Great for game design or hobbyists, though, so good of you to share for those who do that.

I would await any timber shader challenge with interest, however.

Cheers,

D.

I do not intend to be rude or "out-of-place", but I was wondering if we could start
a shader challenge without MAXON directly running it? Do we have to have "permission" to start a challenge? Could we not just have someone start a challenge thread with the agreed
upon shader type?

It might not have a Winner, other than overal popular vote, but it would defintely benefit
theC4D community!

The fabric challenge wasn't started by Maxon. The forum leaders here thought on it and we started it. After it was started the popular demand was to have the results hosted by Maxon to make them available to as many CINEMA users as possiblem this is what happened.

And a great idea it was! :)

I know you guys work hard, so don't forget to take a break on occasion to revive the process.
