Hello to everyone!
I have a relatively easy question that I can't get my head around.
I have one clean shot of a white liquid on a black background. What I want to do with this one in superimpose a picture so the parts that are white will be replaced by the picture and the parts that are black will remain unchanged. Any ideas how to do that?
It sounds and I think it is easy but whatever I do I can't seem to get the effect that I want.

Thanks in advance

There are several ways for that.

Put the layer with the liquid shot in top of you footage and change the layer mode to 'Multiply'

or

Put the layer with the liquid shot in top of you footage, duplicate it and set the topmost as a Luma Matte or Inverted Luma Matte for the layer below.

ok so you want the white liquid to reveal an image below it leaving the black background alone.

if the white liquid has any shading to it, it might be hard to get one of the transfer modes to react with it properly. To prevent that from happening, may I suggest applying brightness and contrast to it, to sort of "bleach" out the liquid so it'll turn it pretty much into an alpha channel. If the black background is truely black, it shouldnt effect it. Then apply the proper "alpha stencil, or alpha" transfer mode and that should take care of it. Hope that helps :)

Maybe have the liquid layer on top set to darken, so the black will be seen and the white won't?
