View Full Version : Academic or Comercial version?
joacoerazo 09-22-2005, 05:54 AM Hi,
Anybody knows how to know if a maya package is an Academic or Comercial Version before you install it on your computer?
There are any stiker, or mark, or serial like codes/numbers on the box to know it?
Thank you in advance.

There's no sticker, but the e-mail you recieved from Alias should include it (when you get the key) And.... Just check your bankaccount. If it's drained, you have the commercial version :)
Mine had a sticker on the box,I'm in Australia so might be different elsewhere.

Maybe it's up to the dealer to decide?

Any body has a educational version of maya, a buyed educational version at US?
How it is the package? Does it has any special nomenclature?
Thankyou in advance

There is no difference in the box designs. In fact I don't think there is any difference in the educational or commerical version software period. The only thing that is probably different is the serial number. Other than that I don't see any difference.

HI,
How do I check if a maya is academic or comercial using the serial?
mlmiller1983, do you have the two versions to compare it?
Anybody are able to check it?
Thank you in advance to all

Why don't you just call Alias or email them? They will be able to tell you.

Well, the easiest way to tell is to look at your receipt. You did BUY it didn't you? If you did not order the software or own it then I can not see why you would need to ask this question at all. I would suggest that you call Alias directly and talk to them I am sure they wouldbe interested to hear your questions and explainations as to why you need to know this.

You know, not to be rude but anyone who bought the software would know this information and it wouldn't be hard to get support if you were having trouble installing. I can't help but think that your trying to use this community to piece together information on Maya commercial so you can pawn your warez on EBay as a commercial version. Especially when you have this post http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=279673 going on as well.
I personally take offense to this after I got burned off an EBay deal when I was a lot younger and thought I was buying a full version of MAX only to find out later it was a very profesional looking warez box. The best thing was trying to buy some plugins from Digimation with this supposedly legal software and getting nailed on it. I learned my lessson but I can't help thinking that you're trying to do the same with Maya.
