View Full Version : AE and mp3 sound file strange ticking help !
sebek27 09-22-2005, 04:43 AM I'm using some audio from sounddogs that is 48000 highest quality. I import this into my AE composition and when I make the movie I set the rate to 48.000 Khz and i get this strange ticking sound you can view the video with this sound here: it's a 15mb file

I tried setting the mp3's in AE upon make movie to lower than 48 and the ticking is still there. IF i double click on it where it shows all the files in the comp, I can play it without any issues, but once I make movie, the ticking is there. Any suggestions ?? it's driving me crazy !

AE can't handle MP3s properly - convert it to a .wav first using Goldwave or something.
Hope that helps!

You can liken this kind of problem to importing a compressed movie file and expecting it to render out totally smoothly and without artifacts. The Mp3 is a compressed source file, expect problems. Convert to WAV first as suggested.

For some reason After Effects doesnt handle MP3's the way Premiere does. I've even found it difficult to convert it to a .wav and use it. Since After Effects is base primarily on the Quicktime codec, converting it to .AIFF seems to work everytime.
