I tried using a program called Rad Video Tools.. with some Bink and Smacker junk with it but after it converts my .tif files to a avi and I go to view them the screen is black. What programs do you recommend to turn .tif files into a mpeg or avi file to be able to view in a video program ie: windows media player... winamp... i'll take quicktime too :D please help

you need to composite them in something like adobe afterFX or shake or something like that. windows media player and winamp wont come close to doing what you need it to do.

On my PC I find QT Player to be the quickest and easiest way to compile my renders... I just open a new player, select File > Open Image Sequence, select the first image in the sequence, then it will ask you what FPS the movie should be... so even if you have your Maya timeline set to 24 or 30 or whatever you can easily have a compiled movie with any frame rate. You can then save this as a reference movie, which means it's a compiled movie so it'll play like a movie but be referencing the tif files so you aren't taking up anymore disk space.
Or you can save it as a self-contained/flattened QT Movie... or export to other formats.
