ROCKSTAR SAN DIEGO crafts premier games for next-gen consoles. As one of the largest developers in San Diego, we've finished more than 13 published titles in the last 5 years alone -- most recently Red Dead Revolver and Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition.

Character Artists

Role:
• The primary function of the Character Artist is to create and refine 2D and 3D art assets.

Responsibilities:
• Use 3D packages, Maya preferred, to create high quality 3D art assets that fulfill the requirements of the project’s Functional, Art, and Technical Specifications:
o Model geometry at multiple LODs
o Create and Map textures
o Set up shaders and lighting for 3D art assets
• Follow the schedule and pipeline established by the Lead Artist.
• Use tracking and management tools.
• Take direction in style and technique.
• Understand the requirements and constraints of game design, engine, and platform.
• Proactively seek feedback from the Art Director in style and mood.

Skills:
• Model, texture map, and light real-time 3D characters
• Ability to use Maya for 3D art production.
• Experience in creating real-time 3D character assets
• Willing and able to work closely with Game Designers and Programmers.
• Ability to take direction.

Requirements:
• Experience in real-time 3D modeling and lighting using Maya or 3DS Max, as demonstrated by a strong portfolio.
• Willingness to learn commercial and proprietary 3D modeling software.
• Game experience preferred.
