first one to reply - huh.
well I am going to give it to you straight. I am not a lighting guy or rendering, but I am trying to learn.
The whole part with the boy and the horse looked really good. I really thought the lighting was good in the outdoor scenes and the part where the boy is inside on the ground and the older man walks in. Looked really nicely lit.
The bad - the whole part with the fireman could be better. I felt like it was way too dark and the scenes where they were actually trying to put the fire out was not lit well.
The animation of these 2 shorts were very good. Decent modeling and texturing.
Lastly - the first 2 parts with the old man hobbling and the guy in the traight jacket? - lose em! These did nothing for your rell, but had me start watching it and I was instantly turned off. No company wants to open a lighting/shading/rendering reel and see some animation. Jump right into the stills of the Japan stuff or into the 2 short movies.
not bad though - good starting reel :bounce:
thx a lot for your suggestions! i will see this when i have a moment. :)

hi lovely work :)
I cant crit much on anything but the movement of the horse, I found it rather too.. blocky how the horse was trotting, the legs didnt seem too right when they moved, mostly because only the legs were moving, when horses trot their hips and shoulders move along with their legs.
your horses shoulders dont seem to move with the leg and give it an unusual bend. I would maybe suggest looking at some horses to see how their legs move on their body a tiny bit closely :)
i am rather pleased at the detail you have put into these works.
keep on going!
thx kyliegirl,
for the horse animation, i made it with videos and with the help of a professional animator from pixar who came in our school, so perhaps it's just a skining probleme because, i really thought that it was ok... except the tail on this video, obviously. The videos was taken on an "educated" horse so perhaps his mouvments was not so naturals.. :)

Well I thought the scenes with the boy and his horse were stunning-however, untill you get the dynamics of the tail and such down pat, i think you should stick to manual animation:)
-hey, is there any way to watch that clip?

Here are my thoughts:
- The solo horse walk cycle. The animation is solid (great!) but the textures seemed unfinished.
- Clothing texture seemed too much like plastic.
- Bird animation seemed too robotic, not as fluid as it should be.
- The messy art room had good detail.
- Firemen scene was great, but the camera was not fluid enough.
- The scene with the horse/boy coming over a hill to a dwelling inside the hill face, that scene was beautiful.
Overall very nice. The only thing that I think you need to work on is texturing and fluidity in your animation. Good job.
tx for your comments guys.
Dagibit: thx, i am trying to put my short online but it's 70mo and i can't find a free 100mo host who accept it... but i'm keep going. :) for the tail, it was faster for us to do it with simulation but in the footage, the tail was not ptoperly defined.
Oculus:
1 - It was an animation test, the render was not finished.
2 - Clothing texture seemed too much like plastic.
3 - Yeah it was a part witch came at the end of the project and we wished to have more time on it... However animation is not my best part in 3D.
4 - Thx a lot.
5 - I was not in charge of the Camera it was a collective project.
6 - Thank you :)
