CGTalk - Animating a loft???

Is this possible? I was messing around w/ this the other day, and looked through all the help files, and couldn't find any information on this. Basically, I have a curved spline and then a shape that I will loft along that spline, is there any way to animate the shape being lofted or extruded along the spline???

Here's how I do it... not sure if there is another or easier way....
I just animate a scale deform and have have it set up as in the pic below...
so that the scale goes from 0% to 100% at the same point, then animate those points along the spline....

Cap End ?
though scale also allows you to bevel the end so :)
