that's really awesome, what's the name of the piece of music you used in your demo?
Hey! Thanks for the unique critic. :) About the music, it's a composition made by a friend of mine. Look in the credits for more info about him. Thanks and bye!
Only one critic?

Very professional technically speaking. But I think the ending is a bit weak

Hi
Great movie.Itīs funny, but as you have been already told, the ending could have been better.
Any way, I like the foot steps on the sand.If you donīt mind, could you tell me how did you do it?..oh, by the way, wich software have you used.Is it max?

Thanks, i'm glad you like it. :) About the footsteeps, mainly i've used composition tricks for achieving the effect. I had various layers of footsteps, which were composited over each other. For example, in the last shot i had 3 diferent layers of footsteps. The composition was a little bit crazy, but well, it worked out quite well (and fast!).
Well, the effect was achieved with various grids with morph targets. Each one was positioned where the character touches ground. So, the grid goes from flat to footsteped
Then in composition a put the footstep layers over the sand without footsteps. I'm not sure if it's clear... maybe i'll post some graphical explanations.

About the software:
XSI 4.2 for all the 3d and compositing (i haven't used combustion nor afx)
Photoshop for texturing
Premiere for the final cut
Well, after fx was used, but for the final credits

I think there are alot of things that are really nice about this film, but the biggest problem is the most important, story. I really like the modeling and environments and lighting but the idea just isn't very original. There are so many animations about a guy trying to open some kind of door. It is obvious that you are a talented 3d artist but I personally think that you need to spend more time making an entertaining story. Nice execution of everything else though.
Just my opinion.
