how can you do beziers in cinema and then move the points on Z axis make polygons then move the points on an axis to add depths? like in the screenshot from lightwave mustang tutorial?
thanx all

Looks like you want to draw the spline using the Draw Bezier Spline tool, then drop it onto an Extrude object. That will give you depth and let you add fillet/rounding and caps to it. You won't need to add polys manually.

or copy/paste the spline, go into polygons mode, move it over to the other end, and loft nurb it. sweep nurb maybe? not sure which :P

beziers are easy in c4d (much more so than in lightwave where once you've done, your'e done), convering them to polys by hand... hmm, well you could use the points of a bezier path and the make poly tool perhaps to do that. then as for extruding... you can do it the lightwave way (using edge extrude plugin, or edge extrude pro, or in c4d8 the inbuilt edge extrude, and just extrude a depth of 0, then use the move tool to move your new (automatically selected) points just as in lightwave), or you could select the polys and just extrude them using the poly extrude tool.

I'm still confused, i made a copy of the bezier outline and moved it to the side then I dropped it into lathe nurbs and it looks like a cup with a dish!! not a chair

anyone know how to make a chair out of the bezier shape I showed on the screenshot? how do you flesh it out now from beziers?
thanx

It really couldn't be simpler. You only need the one spline for the profile--not two. Create an Extrude Nurbs object, and in the Object Manager, make the spline the child of the Extrude Nurbs. Double-click the Extrude Nurbs object in the OM to open its properties and play with the axis/distance of extrusion and the caps settings.

that worked! thanks Adam T :)

now once I get the shape of the chair, is there any way I can now add cuts to the shape and make it editable in polygon and points mode?? thanx

sure! just convert it into a polygone-object (shortcut C)

cosmic bear i know pressing c will make it editable but now it's still the same, can't make it do cuts and move parts of the object, won't let me.

hmmmm, that's weird. you did switch to point-editing or poly-editing-mode?

when making cuts, be sure to turn of 'limit to selection' (hope, i translated it correctly), so your cuts will go through the entire object...

do you have the chance to post the scene of the chair? i can't think of anything other problem...

maybe this helps! :) (or maybe i'm just misreading your problem...)
