Dave3D 09-19-2005, 05:19 PM Hi, i have been playing around with some camera tracking. added one of my old characters into a piece of video. Seems to have worked really well.

Hey man.....well it's pretty hard to crit a piece so short.....but overall it's a solid track :) ....I didn't notice and sliding or floating myself....so good job in that department :D

Looked good to me. I think its pretty good that you were able to make the character fit with that much camera wobble.

very nice camera matching and compositing, I am curious as well, what software did you use?

Hey, glad you all like it.
The animation was done in maya, and used mental ray to render. I also used the new maya7 render layers which are very cool if you havent tried them out yet.
For the actual tracking i used some software called boujou, its a amazing peice of kit! you press go and it trackes even the smallest detail, and creates you camera move in 3d. which you can export into your 3D app, and animate over the top of.

There is some very slight wobble on the box and figure. So slight that I doubt anyonw would see it when viewed full speed. I could only see the movement when going frame by frame.
Not bad at all considering the large amount of Camera movement.
