Pretty cool little bobbing walk cycle. More views in your render would help critiques along. I think there are some things that Im seeing, but from this view its hard to tell. The thing that jumps out at me most from this view is that his wrists are a little stiff. A little more motion there, and relax his hand poses.

nice work.

Nice animation! I see a lot of people with that same model, is there a place where I could download it from?

Yarr, matey!

You've got a good start, I'd say. There's a good double-bounce motion in the hips, and I like the general attitude of the walk. Timing seems good, as well.

As Adam mentioned earlier, it's hard to see what's going on with a walk cycle from just one view. Assuming you just want to see it from this view, though, here's what I'd suggest:

1: LOCK THE FEET DOWN! It looks like you pull his leg IK too far on the contact positions. The knee locks and the heel leaves the ground, so there's a point when he's just floating there. Shorter steps or more forward pelvis movement on contact would help solve this.

2: There's no recovery from the step. On a double-bounce walk, you don't need much recovery, but there needs to be some, or you lose weight. If you just delay the pelvis's upward motion for a frame or two, it would help. It would probably also help with #1.

3: He doesn't seem to put his weight on his front foot until 6 frames after the contact positions. The locked knees have a lot to do with this, but also his center of gravity is too far back. Walking is a series of controlled falls, and a lot of the time it looks like he would be falling backward. Again, fixing this problem will help with #1.

4: His feet are really floaty between the up and passing positions. The foot should lift off the ground faster, and the toes should flop down immediately after leaving the ground. Here's an (exaggerated) example:

And take out the first two frames of the movie. They're just duplicate frames, and they're really irritating when trying to view a looped clip.

Keep it up!

You guys can be nice if you want , I didn't mean to freak you guys out with the rough stuff, just want some critiques, and Does anyone by any chance know why when I render a playblast in MAYA its the speed I want (What I animated too) but then render the frames and put them in to After FX and make a movie it comes out significantly faster than I expected, basically WHy Can't I render playblast speed?????

Thanks
Alex

hey that looks pretty good. i'd add in just a tad bit of shift in the center of gravity. the upper torso seems little static.

it might sound silly... but did you check the frame rates between the two programs...?

Hey! I really love the way he walks! It's very cool. And by the way; I love disco even more than my self. Keep it up!

nice new video, much easier to critique.

the last frame pose for his left hand looks really uncomfortable, bend it off to the side a bit
his heels really arent peeling off the ground much. His right heel even backtracks a bit. Check out the example that squib posted and see if you can get his feet looking more natural.
his head movement is cool, but I think it could lag behind his chest, just 2 or 3 frames.
I feel like his legs could stretch out just a bit when he plants his foot. Rather, his leg looks too bent. You dont want him to plant his foot too far out in front of him, so when you are messing with his heel, I think you'll end up sliding the whole foot cycle back behind him a bit. Basically, I think his knees should be a wee bit straighter on the foot plant, and more bent when he lifts his foot.

Nice work overall.
