this looks really nice, i like the style that your using and the colors. i think that maybe his lip could be exaggerated a little more, especially around the corners, or maybe building in the split in between the lips, the first impression doesnt remind me of a cat with out it, looking forward to seeing the body.

Hi,
If you want to be able to do facial animation then you might want to make the expression more nutural. The mouth has a small downwards curved at the ends.
Also the nose looks a little strange.
Otherwise, great job!

Thanks for the comments guys.
Andrew, mustan: I'll try to correct the lips and the small downwards curved in the mouth.
I'll put some wires soon.
Here you have an update of the body.

Twilight, here you have one of the textures my friend Jose have done for the body. It's not finished yet (you can see in the previous render the texture is cut in the head) but he is working on it.

Bardur, I've used two pictures for the base (front and side) although I'm changing things on the fly because there are things that looks cool in 2D but don't have the same look in 3D.

hi to all, I am jose rodriguez, another person working in the character. Thank you for the good commentaries.now we are going to do hair tests, because we want the tshirt to be made with cloth fx, and the hair under the tshirt could give us some problems, although we have another option, give the character short hair in the body and make it longer in the shoulders , etc ...

Thank's all of you guys for your comments, this comments keeps us thrilled with this character.
We have been working on the textures and here you have the character with all the textures.

MarKus_S & Bardur: Like I have said I'll post a test we are doing in photoshop. The problem putting hair all over the body is the areas where the fur collide with the shirt (cloth sim), we don't know how it's going to react.

Bardur: Yes, you're right. I've used ClothFx. I've modeled the shirt using the body of the character as a base. I don't like model the cloth with patters although it's very powerfull. I'll make an screenshot of the parameters I've used for the cloths, hope it would help you.
-SammaeL-: Thanks for the comments about the cloth. Only one thing, the draw of the shirt is one I found on internet in a Tatoo page. It was only to have a reference to see how the cloth react and create wrinkles.
Womball: We're using 3DS MAX 7.5 for modeling and animation. Blender to unwarp the mesh and VRay for the render. Textures are made in Photoshop.

Thanks for all your comments guys. I hope in a week more less we can put some pose tests, because I'm working now on the character setup and hair (Shave & Haircut) and Jose is working on the weapon textures.
yoff: We thought to put hair like you say (that's an idea we still have in mind) but for now we think this amount of hair is enough, maybe in the future we'll make some test with that.

Thanks 3dmind, that has helped somewhat with the model i'm working on. I'm still a little confused to be honest tho. Some people i've spoken to insist on using only quads, but you and others have used triangles to great effect, and they subdivide fine so i can't see the problem with using them. You obviously know your anatomy well which is something i need to brush up on, following the lines of muscles etc.
Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing him animated :)

Your character is looking pretty good.
Have you tried the newest version of blender? 2.42 is out and it's unwrap is even more stellar than before. I had zero problems unwrapping a hand, it is very nice.

I really love this, excellent work. My only crit is your enviroment seems....more cartoonish. Not quite the right word, but it doesn't seem as natural looking as your char. Fantastic none the less. Maybe its just different lighting, or the backround that needs to be darkened(In my opinion). Something just doesn't add up, I think its the tree. Anyways when I figure out what it is I'll say. Though don't let the above say I think its bad, I think it is superb. Can't wait to see the animation.
Oh yeah I forgot. Did you start modeling using splines, a box or a plane?
