View Full Version : Architectural Room Rendering
jimmyb 11-08-2002, 03:27 PM hello,
Here are two images of an architectural piece I'm working on.
Modeled in Maya and rendered with Mental Ray (GI + FG) in a fairly reasonable time. This will eventually be an animation of some sort. With the exception of a few tweeks, it's basically done.
Suggestions are welcome.

Nice work, although the design of the room is a little minimalist for my tastes. Good architectural work in the ceiling its just the thin staircase support and the tube railings that I'm not particularly fond of.
Good luck with it though.

I'm a maya user too and this is IMPRESSIVE. also, would you be kind enuff to met me know how you get that plank effect on the wall ? I've been going CRAZY trying to figure it out ! What do you map to a shader ?I'd appreciate if you cvould give me the exact details ! anywayz, all the best, dude !

more lovely than a lot of loveliness - the handrail kinda bothers me too tho, at the point at the top of the stairs is it really secure enough not to wobble like crazy or snap or something?
niceness tho.

thanks for the kind comments!
As for the ceiling planks, it's actually
all geometry - I get a much more realistic
result that way rather than a bump map.
Render time is not affected, and the lighting looks better.
thanks again guys!

I think this is very good and you should be very proud. It is not at all like crap, I have seen crap and really really crappy work, almost on boderline retarded, but this isn't it. How you were able to get it to not look like crap is beyond me. By the way stay away from SIMON (and I think you know why!)

ooga booga,
why do you have some much hatred in your heart towards the
cg industry! I think you better check yourself, before you reck
yourself.
As for SIMON, please stop mentioning him. Both you and I know
his lies betrayed us all.

Like the rendering, except it seems a tad weird that you show the lights on the ceiling and you have them off.
