Whoop!

Here I go, my first challenge.

Scrapped my first, second and third sketch, so here's my fourth;)

Is it caricature-y enough?

Great to see you here :D

Your 'toon looks like it'll be a lot of fun to model...what happened to the couch-sleeping idea you mentioned in the channel?

Goodstuff, looking forward to some updates...

Thanks, hehe.

Yes, I sing... loudly, and badly out of tune.

The couch sleeping idea just bored me after a little while...
And I figure I can prolly make more out of this type of concept, different poses etc.

Thanks wt:)

Oh, by the way.

Here is a picture of me... It's not a very good one for comparison as huge smile kind of screws my features up;)

Will try to post a better comparison later on.

I'm the one on the left.

And...

A render (with quite shitty final gathering... i couldn't be bothered waiting longer)

Looks great so far :) I think you are too harsh on your chin.. hehe but it is a good and solid start. poly-by-poly you say? Hmmm ;) Patience is a virtue, Carina, yet that is almost insanity...

*chuckle*

Keep up the excellent work!

Thanks!

Heh, patience.. yes..

Problem is, when I try to do box modelling or whatever I just end up starting all over about 15 times, so all in all, poly by poly is quicker;)

After this challenge I will probably make some general head mesh, lowpoly, that I can then expand on for faces I make so I don't have to start from scratch every time. Should speed up the process no end.

To be honest I've spent almost as long on the hair as I did on the head tho heh.

Golly the hair looks pretty damn fine. Good style... but might need to be brought a tad further forward on the forehead. Maybe.

Overall its looking rather good. I can't find anything else to crit really.

Thanks for your replies all!

Dimitris: I know, hehe. That's a real challenge:)

Krugar: Good point about the hair, have taken your advise and it looks better now, will post it later on today perhaps. After tweaking it a bit more ;)

nibo: from the picture I posted my mouth looks quite wide, but it's only cause I'm smiling.. it's actually not very wide, which is why I've exaggerated it to be even narrower. Will probably show better on another type of photo, will try to post a better one as I go along.

OZ: good point, will try it when I get home.

Wow, didn't think I'd get any more replies on this thread until I'd updated again.

Thanks a lot! I mightn't be able to update much until this weekend, as tonight is computer free night and if i go near the computer i'll have my fingers slapped. Heh.

Fede, heh, yes I am "spoken for" I suppose

Again, thanks for the encouragement.. I need it. I've realised that with me never modelling the actual body of my humans before, it's a bit of a tough one at the moment. :hmm:

An update!

Have started on the body, struggling a bit really so if you have any crits on what to improve with what I've done so far, fire away please.

I haven't tied anything together yet, so ignore the rather blatant seams for now;)

try to play around with the proportions a bit more..
try to exagerrate your prominent features. scale down the body perhaps. it would look more toon.

Hey, thanks for the replies.

First of all, thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!

I am planning on making the body more caricatury later on, by using lattice deformers etc. I find that method easier than actually modelling it caricatury from the start, especially as it's the first human body i've modelled.

Iguiniz.X, what's sleutelbeen?;) something bone?

Sorry for all the English people but I have to do this in dutch...

Je sleutel been is het bot tussen je schouderblad en je borst been.
Ik mag hopen dat je die wel kent. Zo niet leg je kin op je borst en dan raak je als je anatomisch correct bent precies je 2 sleutelbenen aan met je kin. :p
