I was actually pretty surprised not to find much about this in the archives, since I'm certain this has come up before. I have got an object that I have to smooth in close-up. It has procedural textures, so I need to use a texture reference object. These don't seem to play nice together. Applying the reference before doesn't transfer over the smoothing operation. Applying it after, and I get really bad artifacts since I think the vertex order after the smooth operation is not deterministic (why this should be, I don't know)
I have tried to use conversion to Sub-D, but the Texture Reference doesn't seem to work at *all* in this case. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
So, *has* anyone got a solution for this? My two ideas right now are to use a wrap deformer (ug) or bake the textures at some horrendous resolution (double ug) to make it work.
Anyone got any better ideas?
Thanks for any help!
