Once on a winter retreat, the YMCA was serving something for dinner labeled "Peanut Curry Tofu". And this has been one of our many inside jokes ever since.

Oh, these are one of my favourite sketches.
The first one is one of the Pratchett characters (in pencil). ;)))
And the second and third one are a combination of my favourite sketches made during lessons at school next to my notes (made with a ballpen) :)

oh my goodness... Katea and kirt.. I would LOVE to see more of your sketches. Katea, those woman's faces are awe inspiring, and are those drawn with biro?? *faints* Utterly amazing.. those sort of drawings get me more excited than fully finished paintings most of the time. Kirt... I want a t-shirt with that cat and the wacom tablet.... heck, no, I want a huge print of it for my wall. Heck.. I'd pay you for the original... Do you produce this sort of stuff commercially? For your line of work? Or just for kicks? Either way, stunning control of line and form...
Do either of you have a website/gallery to see more?

Thanks! I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, so more than 30 years of practice. Sorry, there is no easy way to learn to draw. You just have to do it and keep doing it to get better.
I always have a sketchbook with me. Or at least a piece of paper and a pencil handy for doodling. You can never sketch enough and it's always a learning process.

Yes, I do occassional freelance work for extra gas money. But I consider myself more of a hobbiest. The cat was done for a t-shirt design @ eatpoo.com. But never used. I have the original sketch (I believe it's around 6"x6" in size) laying around somewhere if you're that serious about purchasing it. PM me and I'm sure we could work something out. :D
I have a website, but it's kind of lacking in content at the moment. I have a few other pieces to see, but not nearly as much as I had in the previous website version. I'm still working on fixing the site.

Estacy,
I love drawings of old boots!
I once had a story published in a regional magazine that told the Christmas story from the innkeeper's point of view. I started to develop characters for an illustration, but never got further than these. The innkeeper, Buck, is based on my own mug, while the pregnant virgin Mary is how I thought she might look under the circumstances. As the sketches suggest, I imagine a stressful time was had by all.

Here is composition of sketches I made a few weeks ago,as my own wallpaper, to remember me each time I open the pc to draw more with the pencil. The usual stuff, drawing while the computer rasterizes an eps, during a phonecall, during a download, during a boring movie... :D

Not my favorites, but something special about my thought process back then that I wanted to post. All three sketches are from 15-16 years old.
Thanks!

Suppose no better way to start my stint at CG talk than forcing myself to forego my shyness and just...post something! I do predominantly wildlife art and lately anthropomorphic art. I don't see a horribly great deal of that here, but hopefully it won't be terribly out of place.
I've joined CG talk primarly to expand my horizons and continue growing as an artist. Here are some of my more recent quick practice sketches:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/sketch104.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/sketch99.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/sketch88.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/sketch105.jpg
A few very obviously non anthro/animal inspired pieces:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/elvencity3.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/sketch63.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/sailships.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/zBalrogz/cityscape.jpg
Hopefully that wasn't a horrible overload on you folks. I look forward to enjoying my stay at CG talk..and shed a bit of shyness about my own work :).
You guys are all enormously inspiring!

I love sketchbook stuff. It may be rough, but it's so straight from the brain that it always has a fresh feeling that sometimes finished works lack. This is an awesome thread! :D I'll have to find some impressive sketchbook stuff to share.

This thread is great. It's really inspiring to see everybody's sketches. I don't really have a favorite sketchbook, but here are a few I found from several years ago - completely forgot I had them!

Also there is an other one, but I must warn you because this was started as a casual sketch however it was ended as a photoshop manipulated illustration. In fact I hadn't done some thing enarmous, I added extra layers which are old game cards and tuned the levels...
Ispired from LeGuin's Earthsea...

Here are two sketches from quite some time ago. I haven't been drawing for a few years now due to running a web design and graphics business - but am resuming art again :)
This used to be hosted on my site called "The Plastic Pencil" My other art was hosted at another site called "Cyber Manga" - will post a few images from that later on.

Drawing my teacher during instead of the model that day. dont you hate it when models fall asleep... anyway, he started to throw a little fit and i feverishly tried to capture it. i thought it was a cool little sequence.

Goro I love your sketches. The robot is really cute:)
That's a drawing from my travel sketchbook. When I have to commute I tend to daydream while hearing music from my iPod. In this occasion I had recently readen a videogames magazine and this idea popped into my head. Since I was travelling I only had a couple of fountain pens to use.
