hello everybody,

finally... i think i have something worthy to post here.
this was my final project at sheridan college's computer animation program.
spent about total three months time. oh how i enjoyed those sleepless... weeks...?
it was made in maya 6, with software render along with Daniel Rind's ( http://animus.brinkster.net/ ) dirtmap in mental ray. this project was a truely enlightening experience. i think i like this 3D whachamajiggy thingy.

anyways, here it is. tell me what you think, all comments and questions will be very much appreciated.
thanks a bunch.

I love the look of the whole thing. And I really like how everything came togther toward the end. The animation could have been better  It was really floaty and weightless. Something I'm sure you'll improve on oer time. Over all it was good for a student piece though. Congrats on all the hard work.. now get some sleep.

Nice work mondo-ray!

I agree with kevin, I think the animation was floaty but the overall look and feel of the piece is good.
I liked the fact it had kind of a Fimo, Plasteline look to it all and the morphing frames were surprising and well done.

Well, you did have some good teachers eh? especially Paul Wollenzien.

Keep on the good work man...

thanks a bunch for the comments kevinw 'n Ranimate.

yes... the charecter animation is pretty weak... i still have a very hard time with it. animating has been one of the most enlightening experiences though. never learned so much, still learning lots everyday. makes me wish i'd taken classical animation. timing and posing is a huge issue for me. i'm not quite sure how to improve on these areas... i'm sure it'll come with a LOT more practice and lotta critiques from people. the program really made me appriciate all the hard work that people do. now i'm back taking digital charecter this year. kinda wish i'd taken a lil bit of a break, since i just finished up from the jan-aug program. oh yeah, paul's been an awesome teacher, also kris howald has been a tremendous mentor and an amazing teacher all the way through. these guys are all pretty crazy.

i had so much trouble with this piece... i guess i didn't know exactly what i was doing. also made lotta horrendous bad choices when i was half asleep. lesson learned.

Good short, I like the color and mood. I also think that her first reaction to the box moving was a bit to fast, as a viewer I noticed the box move, and almost right away she moved (or spoke) almost at the same time. I was thrown off a bit. Other then that, I liked it. Did you do the girls voice?

thanks for the crit Jonyk,
yeah... i guess the timing's off? first half of the film is where i coun't spend too much time on... and it shows 'n i know it all too painfully.
anyways, the voice talent was taken care by the sound guys... they didn't provide me with any info, just that it was their friend. =\
