Guys-

Need help texturing this plane in maya. The ground is eventually going to split so the texture will have to remain in two pieces. I've attached a picture of the plane. Need to know how to texture this. I've tried assigning a planar uv map, but It looks like crap. it gets stretched. Do I have to paint like a really high res map? or is there a better way of acheiving this? maybe like a uvwunwrap or a textporter for maya?

Thanks in advance-

I wouldn't texture it with one "bitmap". Maybe you could use one big image as an alpha map for grass for example. But for the rest I would use some smaller tileable images, and some 3d textures.
