View Full Version : Living Toons - character - Joril
Joril 11-07-2002, 11:40 PM I'm in.
I started the model already, but I did make some sketches before that to set the style.
I did a quick and dirty "manual scan" of the pencil drawing and gave it a little colour.
Remember ... just to set the style. It's also more of a cartoon than a caricature :D
Erm... the hobby doesn't quite show yet. Some of you might have guessed this, but It'll be about Astrology (charts as props maybe?)... I'm figuring out how though :)
Anyway, here's the sketch!

Hope you all like it. The model is on it's way!

Thanks Virtuoso, always a pleasure hear from you :D
I've been busy today.
Here's the result.
Please do notice the armourchains beneath the cloth, my computer would apreciate it because they consist of alot of polygonal RAM eaters :D

Who ho great moddel Joril.
Really nice style great head and suit.
If HONOR wasn´t written on the book I would say it was a book with dark spells.
;) I do c the chains . why not making them a bit longer so you really notice them
Hamer is cool but make the stick thikker or do something cool with it look like a ordinary big hammer now.
Anyways GREAT going man.
KingMob
11-14-2002, 02:51 PM
or add another row of chains, they are cool, it would be a shame to have them hidden.

Dark spells, evil, vampire
...
omg
I'm a monster....
Okok, not all the time... but hey, a paladin is supposed to be a good guy, helping the weak and defenceless, hunting down vampires and so on.. not be one :surprised :D
Hey, but thanks for all the kind comments guys and gal, it keeps my spirit up! ;)
But anyways, I was curius.
So I made this ...

Ohh Ohhh! Fellow Blizz fan here. My addiction so far :D has been limited to Star Craft and D2. Very cool idea.
A added idea, accesorize yourself as each race and put the guys together to duke it out :bounce: hehehe
Great idea and keep it up!

Thanks guys!!
I just have to give a little sign of life, I worked very little this weekend (did a major system upgrade over here, and it was a busy week - excuses excuses, I know ;) .
Anyway, I made a little sword(wip!!) fridaynight.
Just imported it in Layout, posed my little friend with it, and made the picture :)
More to come!

Hi Joril..............Looks good. Near to very good. One of the more interesting pieces of this challenge.
I think what's needed to get it to the very good stage is more detailing. To begin with the boots............Go for it,Give them more detail. Also the armor could get some sigils or nice design patterns upon them. Add a displacement or bump here and there.Get your guy more dirty, more worn,he is toooo clean.
All in all however I like the whole look and feel. But with some added detailing he can be a real sweet enrty. Just my 2 Francs.....;)
I hope to see more details if possible, but still even without it's a good job.

Virtuoso you are godsend!!
Thanks alot, your comments, and advice, pushed me back into LW this evening :)

Nice update..
u should but a curtve in the boots........ on the inside of the foot. and and and........ the low point of the humps on the dress should be lower....... its too straight, it looks a bit like corrugated iron.
and u should put cuffs on the sleeves
its cool model!
Nice work Joril! very nice style, I recognize the Blizzard touch(diablo!)... Those boots give a cool touch. Hey, what's the hobby? Role-Playing?
Virtuoso: It's Francs no more... say "my two Euro cents ";)
Virtuoso
11-28-2002, 09:17 AM
Nicer again Joril..................But don't stop.A little dirtier look too could be nice. But it really depends what you have exactly in mind with this guy. I still think a few added touches can add more still.....................
All in all a fine job. ..............
m@...............Yes ,yes...........I know.......But how I miss the good ol' Belgian Franc, nice memories and all that. And that's my two Euro cents..............I got to get used to that ....... ;)

Hey, thanks for all the feedback guys!
Krugar, i fixed the boots, and the.. erm.. dress.
I'm not so sure how cuffs would look on it though.
m@.: The hobby is "being a warcraft-addict" And yes, Blizzard was a main source of inspiration. For all my stuff actually.
Virtuoso: A dirtier look eh? I'm gonne play with textures for that :)
But I suppose I can't overdo it too, it's not actually part of the challenge, and the image can't look to "busy".
Oh, I'm still adapting to those Euros, converting everything back into Franks... *sigh*
I've been terribly busy this week. And it's not looking good for next week either.
I knew I shouldn't have spent so much time with my other hobbies...
Either way, here's a little progress. I'm thinking more textures next.
