View Full Version : Sound in XL7?
neilyb 11-07-2002, 09:32 PM Here is something I have never considered before. How to get sound in my final render (quicktime or AVI)
I have a speaker emitting a WAV file and then I have a stereo microphone but I don't get sound in my render. Please can anyone tell me why or am I missing somat?
Ta again

the mic is within the falloff range of the speaker right?
if you just want a soundtrack, then you can add a sound track to any object (usually just a null will do) in the timeline, no need for speakers or mic's. the speakers and mics are there to reproduce sound effects as objects go past etc... so they have falloff. but if you want that... then provided they're close enough together... i don't know what the problem is for you.

The sound isn't rendered with the rest of the animation - you have to render it separately to a wav file and splice it together in your editing application. To render the sound, choose 2D or 3D sound rendering from the Timeline file menu.

Thanks, hadn't realised they had to be rendered separately! The manual wasn't very clear.

I'd think "sound rendering" is a confusing terminology. It's not a rendering in the 3D sense, but just a sound editing. For a stereo editing, you can see a brief explanation in

Well it is more like "sound rendering" in that C4D will take into account velocity towards or away from the mike in order to generate doppler effects, as well as correct stereo imaging...
OK, I am being pedantic...:surprised

I mean just the same terminology of "rendering" for both image and sound possibly be confusing. As "rendering," we, users of 3D application, may tend to imagine a rendering of image.
Of course, careful reading of the manual would correct possible confusion. ;)
