Hi folks.

Here's a wip that I originally showed as part of my Tom Cruise model thread. The body is the same, and the head is just a reproportion of the Tom Cruise model that I was working on. I've since finished texturing it and I would like some feedback. I still need to add hair, but that will come later. Now that I'm pretty much done with this, I'll be able to go back to working on the Tom model. I'm also a freelancer, in case anyone is in need of one.

This character and my other character Maxine originally under the thread name '"Brom Girl" have both been rigged by Paul Neale and are being used in demos for the upcoming release of 3dsmax 8. The first of these demos is today at 3pm in Toronto at the Paramount, I think?

Here's a link to some of the videos featuring these two characters:

Hi again,

Here's an update of some renders with Vray. I'm not using any type of subsurface scattering on him, and I like the results better than the mental ray renders that I posted yesterday. I know that the feet are conspicuously absent. I'll add them later for my own benefit.

There is also a larger version of the same render here (http://www.erinnicholson.com/Maxwell_Vray01.jpg).

very good, i love your textures.
i have this odd feeling that there may be something wrong with the proportions , well the legz seems to be a bit short i tihnk.
other than that, looks great!

Thats really good, were there any features in max 8 that helped you to model it.

Hi blz,

Thanks. He does have a huge head and short legs in the pictures without his clothes. I think that this might be because of the camera though. When the model is seen in an orthographic view, he looks pretty normal. I've attached an image, so that you and others can be the judge. He's not the ideal ecto-mesomorph man that Loomis illustrates, but I think that he's within the limits for a mesomorph. His deltoids and v-shape are probably a little exaggerated though.

hoodedpython:

Yes, the new features did help a bit in modelling the character, but max is great modelling package as it is right now. However, the new unwrap tools were what really made it a pleasure to work in 3dsmax 8. Take a look at the feature videos for max 8 if you haven't already. The link is above in my first post.
