Spectacular 3D Entry: Teemu Väisänen

So this is my first challenge in cgtalk. Hopefully I'll finish it in time. I don't have any proper sketches yet but I do have an idea. I've always loved good stories. So my entry will be something about how story becomes reality in child's mind.

Very simple 3d sketch of what I have in mind. I don't have scanner available right now so I can't post any pencil sketches.
The idea is that the kid's grand father is telling him his war memories and the kid imagines what happened. I'm not sure yet what batlle they get into. Maybe pearl harbor, omaha beach or just some random city battle.

Hey thanks DaddyMack and yunisirees.

I've been thinking the concept a little more. I might change it a bit. I thought it might work if they were watching a movie and it becomes reality. Something like in the movie Last action hero... Well anyway, if I go for the current concept idea (old man telling a story) it will be a problem how to tell whats the context between the fighting soldiers and the boy. It would be easy if this was an animation, but with static picture it's much more difficult. Kid's facial expression is the most obvious way but his face won't show very large in the pic. Also some usual everyday happening here and there would be one clue but it may also look even more confusing. Ah well, I gotta plan some more while modeling characters....

Little test with particles. The scene will be full of broken stuff, bullet holes, etc...

Ok, so I changed the concept a little. I don't know if my lousy sketch makes any sense but the scene will take place in a living room. There is a boy and his grandfather/father watching a movie. Boy is quite amazed of the movie and he imagines it happening around him. So there should be an intensive fight with broken stuff everywere in the room. Actually I haven't decided what exactly is happening around them. However his granpa looks bored/irritated and is going to change the channel.

Unfortunately I won't finish this challenge. I've been busy with school for last 2 months. However I did make a displacement map for this model. It's not finished or anything but I thought I'd show it here anyway.
