As far as I know, and adjustment layer affects everything beneath it...
say i have this on my timeline:

1: adjustment layer
2: image1
3: image2
4: image3
5: image4
6: background

then i apply a radial zoom blur for layer 1 (adjustment layer)...
my question is, what if i didnt want layer 3 to be affected by the effect?

i know that it might be easier to do it manually considering that it's only 6 layers... but there are times that im working on more than those... is there a way to filter some layers so that it wont be affected by the adjustment layer? or can i specifically assign layers for the adjustment layer that i want affected?

I would recommend precompositing for that; make two precomps. Your final "master comp" would then put all them together with the following layers:

a) precomp I (with all layers before the non-filtered layer)
b) non-filtered layer
c) precomp II (with all layers after the non-filtered layer)

Then add desired filter, like radial blur, to layers "a" and "c". Then if you wish, you can use expression pick whip to link both filter's parameters to each other, so that when you adjust one, the other will change accordingly.

Hope it helps.

many thanks tuomok, i tried those and precomposed them, a lot like grouping them... but i had problems with layers that are additive.. somthing like this:

1: precomposed layer - normal
1: image1 - additive
2: image2 - normal
2: image3 - normal
3: background - normal

the precomposed layer that has 2 layers inside it has an additive layer... and it being an additive does not pass up the master comp. is there a way to maintain transfer modes from a precomposed layer to the master comp?
