This is as far as my sketching got before I had to start modeln or my head would explode. The premise is that this huge mafia 1930's gangsta is back in almost a matrix bullet time jump shooting dual tommy guns. What will be spectacular about it will be a.) the super human strength this would take
b.) and most of all the expressionless face he wears as he uses these guns of destruction.
it will be in black and white and will have a grainy old photograph look as well as a old mafia style rolls royce in the backround.

Just the beggining of my modeling crits welcome and wanted...
*edit* i just wanted to clarify im going for a semi cartoony look but still trying to capture something spectacular at the same time. I feel this can be done and would look great if acccomplished so i will try to give it my best*edit*

my new concept is a lizard type character from another planet much like out own but evolved its dominate species differently riding a rhinolike animal up to meet a tank. Story: Just like humans thought it was their right in the ancient days to take over their neighbors land witht he advent of hyperstellar space travel humans now think it their right to conquer other planets. On this particular planet the earthen army has conquered most of the worlds primitive species, but in a last show of defiance the last member of the tribe rides out against insurmountable odds to face his adversaries. the image will include a 3 hover like tanks and open field then this character on the other side. It will much like a pre battle setting of forces with no action it but just the forshadowing of the slaughter to come.
hope this makes some sense, and sorry about that stupid rendering glitch
c&c welcome

I am actually in 11th not 10th grade, considering htis it would be could be helpful for people to comment on whether my skills would be good enough to put into a good 3d school with things such as this in my portfolio. I will be adding texture maps and all other sorts of maps in the near future once i finish unwrapping this beastly task....

Dude its looking good so far! I really like this concept its gonna look sweet :D
There are a few things on the beast tho, I think the legs need to be rounded off some more they seem a little blocky. Also I think you should make the seat/saddle thing smaller so that the beast looks big. Maybe even take off the face armor and give him a face. Make him look intimidating! Great job on it so far, keep it up man!!

Well i have a question for any 3ds max users, I created an object then using the symmetry modifier mirrored it. Now after unwrapping in i want to convert it into a solid object, also i want to be able to get the wntire unwrap for that object so i can create assymetrical textures so instead of haveing half the face on the uv lay out i can have all of it, is there a way to do this???? please help me for I have only been in this 3d arena for a short time.

I think you're on the right track. You have a ton of work to go though. Maybe you should sketch out the rest and make the modeling task as simple as possible so that you will be able to pull off a final image. To answer the question posted earlier, when you duplicate the half object to get the other half, the uvs will overlap. This means the texture map will be mirrored and you will not be able to get asymmetry in your texture map. Try copy and pasting the object so that you will get an entirely separate object with its own uvs (and make sure to enter -1 for scale x in order to invert the half mesh so it will be opposite the original mesh). Select the uvs in the uv editor and using the scale tool, inverse them and then drag them away from their current location in the uv editor grid. This will solve the overlap problem when you combine the geometry of this half of the object and the other half and merge their vertices. Hope that tip made sense and works out. I use Maya myself but I think the same principles apply here.
One more thing, I really liked the first concept as well and I think that you seem closer to being able to finish that one in time. Just make the man diving through the air and stick a brick wall behind him as a background and the car can be parked next to the brick wall. You can then model the curb and a fire hydrant and sidewalk. You will need to model 1 tommy gun as well and then copy paste it for duel tommy guns. I think this is the simplest solution. Remember, finishing on time is half the battle in these challenges. You can do it!

Im really took on to big of a task for m e with all the things i have going on between school and sports and the whole deal.. so basically i realized this was way to ambitous but i will be finish the rhino in a seperate thread when i have more time and will put it in my prtfolio. Thanks all
and maybe i will try to pull of my first concept gardogg thanks for the kind words

Whoa, you are busy! With all of these details the rhino is looking really good. Nice job and I agree that it is best to pace yourself and not overwork. I am guilty of this I think. I plan to slow down a bit in the near future so that I will prevent burnout.

You have good model there, dont give out yet... perhaps spend time concentrate on texturing, just leave the background drak is fine, create few lightings and I think will turn out a good image.;)
10 days(or less) may be not enough but still enough, I was once thinking give out, but I did not... balance between job, family and this... it is hard, when you have so much ideas so much works and so much need to do... well I think you still can make it mate.
