Hi All,

This will be the first challenge I'll have the opportunity to be participating in since I've found this wonderful site.

Heres my original concept sketch:
(I can't draw too well, so go easy on me!)

Comments and Suggestions most welcomed.

Just uploaded to the new (and fantastic) CGChallenge website.

I'm working on coloring this pic currently... hope to begin the modeling soon.

Tell me what you think!

That sketch is looking pretty good- can't wait to see it in 3D. Hey are you the same DBZ that is on Renderosity??? If you are I've seen some of your work & I'm sure this will turn out most excellent. Cheers  - 3DF.

Well, I suppose it's about time I posted an update.
Started from the bottom up as you can see.

I'm going to move on to the upper body soon, but I'd like to hear your opinions on what I've got so far first.

I've also begun modeling the guitar, but it's not yet ready to show to the world. :airguitar

Good Luck to all.

Those pants kick ass. I like the fact that you exaggerated all the seems(sp). And they rest so nicely on the shoes! :applause:

Good job keep on updating!

i dun wanna go off topic and waste this thread, i have no problem with ibanez but there low end guitars suck big time, and they are much over rated.... but high end ones are pretty good.... but i am not a fan of ibanez , i am more of a jackson fan..

neways rock on dude...

Devidebyzero hope we can see some updates

Well, looks like its about time to update my progress again.
Sorry it's been a while, but I guess I'm just not like some of the other people who update every time a vertex is moved... :p

Here's the torso,
Images rendered about 2 days ago...
Since then the arms and hands have been roughed out, but aren't quite ready for viewing yet.

The guitar is almost complete aswell, just the body remains.
Will post an update of the guitar soon.

Going to move onto the face soon...
Hope I can have it complete in time for the deadline... how ironic it is that the first contest I participate in has a deadline that lands right in the middle of the final exam schedule for this semester! :annoyed:

Tell me what you think so far!!!

Awesome model so far!
What prorgram and method did you use to model???

RockinAkin
11-26-2002, 04:05 PM
I use 3ds max 5,
The modeling is mostly a mix between Poly Mesh & SubD, and Surface tools. (I switch between the two, collapsing and re-collapsing - whenever I need one method or the other...)

Head coming along nicely, should update in a couple of days.

C'mon people! Gimme some crits over what I've got so far!!!

Hi DivideByZero,
here is my critique of your work so far.

I love the work you have done recreating the
clothes your model is wearing.

One can almost feel the
weight of the pants.

One minor critique of the model is that I think it needs some minor
wrinkles on the chest area.

Also I saw the sketch of your final image,
and I think that it looks WAY too static for the topic.

Maybe you could pose it using a image from Circus
Magazine or Rolling Stone.

Anyway
Keep up the good work, it looks great!
Looking forward to the head.
-Roberto

Ps I would love it if you would critique my work
at
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27761&pagenumber=2

Thanks

Thanks for your comment.
Dont worry, I've got a much more dynamic pose in mind than the one seen in the sketch...

Heres a quick WIP of the head I've been making,
Hair and eybrows are coming up soon...
Having problems with the hair parts, I'm not totally satisfied with the beard here, but cant think of anything else to do to it at the moment.

Tell me what you think.
Comments And Crits NEEDED!!!

Hmmm... I've had about 100 views since last update, and not 1 comment. Is there something wrong with mine? Is it really good? or is it just so bad, that it's causing blindness to anyone who views it? :surprised Don't be shy! Tell me what you think!

Heres the total model almost complete... just needs some Hair.
I'm almost happy with how the Arms and Hands look, and will update with them soon.
I have a looming feeling that the Hair is going to be a major pain in the ass... dont have the slightest clue on how to go about modeling it... got any tips?

Hope I can finish in time.

Here's the Wireframe for those that wanted it:

Some general info:
Body is all one solid, unbroken mesh.
I used only 2 bump map images for the entire project, both of which also made by me in photoshop.
He's fully rigged and ready to animate.
And all base colors of course.

Good Luck Everyone,
