So it is my first entry for a challenge :) I hope I'll be able to do the picture I have in my mind. This sketch shows a woman whose powers have spectacular effets.
hum... I know that it isn't a very original presentation, I've written a text of presentation, but I will tka some more time to translate it corecctly.
Concerning the concept sketch, I'll probably work on the composition, which doesn't satisfy me...
C&C are welcome of course ;)

welcome to the challenge, probably have the same thing going in the concept, just change the angle and, exaggerate the pose, make her, powerful! Will check back, Lata!

Yeah I'd have an POV at an angle looking up from the ground, with the character looking into the distance, oblivious to her power. Good luck with the challenge.

This will be great if you finish it. Modeling enought cars will be a hard job. I once started a image with cars. I did about 5 cars and a semi-trailer. The i had enought of modeling cars. The underneath of cars is very interesting also to texture the dirt build up. Have fun if need advise on cars ask. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?postid=2629320#post2629320

Thank you for all your encouragements ! I'm still daunted to post my work in this forum, but I know it would be a great challenge !

However I have some urban props I can re-use, not a lot but while I am drawing, I'm not thinking about props I have or I don't have. I can reduce the number of elements in the scene if necessary. For instance, while I'm writing, I think that there won't be so much cars in the airs...

Making this challenge will undoubtedly make me improve my skills in modelling and texturing, that's not so bad. ;)

I began to model the young girl's face. I was insired by one or two photographs, and some of my sketches that I'll post later (I don't have a scanner here).

I've began to model the woman. there are still some defaults in the neck, and the chin is too large, but I'll continue to work on this model this evening.

I've continued the modeling of the woman, as fast as possible. Hands are missing, but I'm finising to model them, and I'll merge them later.

I've modelled hands this morning - I know there are still some mistakes in it, but I wonder if it's worth spending more time on it, because I don't know if they will really be seen in the scene.

Here is the woman head wireframe ; I've began to change her expression. She must have a sort of ferocious expression while using her powers and destructing all around her.

I've made teeth and tongue, very simple mesh. I've made the top too, some poly I duplicated from the body, then they were modified ; I eventually used modifier clothfx to make it close to the body. I'm rather satisfied, in a global way, but there is a bug on the right suspender, and in some parts, the top doesn't fit very well to the body.

Thank you ! I do my best to make a nice picture.

Great expression in that face - good modeling
Thanks!:D It's quite difficult for me because it's the first realistic character I model. I'm rather proud of it - glad to see you like it too.

Today, I'm unwrapping UVs, and I may texture face in the day.

Very impressive and also, expressive face... congratulations for your first realistic character, you can be proud.

My only crit, ears appear too small, and too much turned, but perhaps you envisaged to put the hairs above, and then, no problem.
Good continuation Agou :bounce:

I'm glad to see more of us girls in the 3d area. I don't know why but most female challengers, even when they do know 3d, always end up doing 2d. Maybe they're shy... :)

That face is looking pretty impressive shouting like that (I can't wait to see her with the hair on!) but the proportions of the body seem a bit off to me - the trunk seems too short and the feet too long. You can see what I mean here:
http://www.female-anatomy-for-artist.com/content/comparison/comparison.htm

Still, good modeling. I 'll be back to see more.

Good luck!

Hi Sophie...

I like your idea, well, your scketch has made me imagine the finished image and i liked it. I visit your website and saw very cool 2D there, I wish I could use that talent for my sckeches...

Nice to see how you are developing your character, before going further I would advice you to check on some of it.

That is a expression of anger right? the eyebrows would pop out, but not that much, it gives it a little of Male mood, and since she already has a male looking nose, it gives her a little strange look.

The other thing that bothers me the most is the jaw, if you were to draw the bone undesneath and considering the rotation below the ears it would look that shes got a broken jaw, so you might want to check on that too.

As lemog told you, the ears ar a little to small, and that is true even thought I have seem people with small ears this are too little and have a strange rotation...

I recomend you to check all this stuff on a portrait image of a girl..

Good luck with your image, I hope to see your improvements soon...!!

Hi nice job on the modeling.
I agree the body proportions need a little bit more work , but good job on the head except the ears as Lemog said.

Just want to give you some support and wish you the best luck Sophie.:bounce: :bounce:

Good work so far.

I'd suggest pinching the mesh in behind the ears. You can feel it on your own head where the skull bulges out at the top of the neck - it needs to happen a bit higher on your model. That'll help the 3/4 sillouette immensely.

I agree about ears, I want to modify them, but I'm too lazy, I haven't done it yet (but I made a lot of other things don't worry). Secundo, I don't know exactly if ears will eventually appear, so I go on in my searches, and I'll find a solution later.
And thank you for visiting my thread, I'm honored.:)

Thanks!
You made a lots of very useful advices, and your crits are right. I had this feeling concerning the male attitude and friends confirmed me. And I had problems to model jaws, so I'm not surprised they're not rightfully modelled.
I'm sure I'll improve very quickly thanks to this challenge!
And I'm glad you liked my concept sketch.:D

Concerning the anatomy, you'll see, I've continued my model and those mistakes are corrected (I hope so).

Yeah, girls in 3d are so rare. Maybe they think they have to model space airship or monsters in order to make 3d, I don't know. Maybe it's shiness, you're right, 3d seems to be too technical. And other girls don't like things too much technical, they don't dismantle computers or try to fix their toaster or their radio (like I do).

So thank you Sonia, see you' !

LOL!
That's it then - the secret is revealed!

I've just spent the last few hours rewiring my computer's guts after a driver update knocked out both my CD\DVD recorders! Plus I discovered whoever assembled my computer forgot to put in an audio cable. No wonder I couldn't hear my CDs! :D Fortunately I had a spare!

And there's probably not one home appliance in this house I haven't poked my nose into!
Wonderful thing, screwdrivers! :D

Back to business:
The girl does look better now. The pose seems to be going the right way, too. Expressive.

Very dynamic pose , and also well appropiated with the facial expression.
Details on pants and boots are very good.

Some issues on the torso, breasts to fix a that will be good.

I've completed the woman's skinning and have changed a little bit the posing - maybe I'll modify it too later. Hair have been done, but they're not shown there ; I've simulated them thanks to new hair modifier of 3dsMax 7.5, but I've rendered the picture from my sister's computer, and some changes are not still there. Later, maybe, I'll show them...

Good posing and facial expression. However, the head looks too big, the character looks too short (everything should be lengthened really, and the back of the head has an irregularly shaped skull. Look up some skull pictures and you will see what I'm talking about. Good luck.

Nice progress Sophie , the pose is great and the car too. I find the back of her head a quit big, but put that crit aside if she 's gonna have hair.

Great idea, and I think you are taking on the projrct very well.

Her pose looks a little like she's going to fall forward. Spacing out her legs a little more, either by bringing the front one more foreward or the rear one back would help.

And since the idea of hair has been mentioned. I suspect that her hair should be messy and up on end in spots. Since all this engery must be pouring out of her, the hair would be caught up by it.

Keep rocking.

(Zapan: I thought that was why I got into this sort of thing, I've always had an eye for detail, now just give me the time -- and the processor and memory -- to include it all. :D )

Yeah, textures will be a lot a lof work...that should be interesting to do, I'm quite a beginner in this domain. Any help is welcome of course, I have the help of a friend who made a short film with horses in a big city, he gave me excellent building references which gave me inspiration, but not a lot of textures unfortunately.:)

And of course you're gonna have the courage to finish, otherwise I will send you my snails army (not sure they will arrive until the end of the challenge).

Thanks for your "snails army", that would be really helpful !!! But you know, may I admit, I... I.... j'ai la pétoche des escargots...ben oui...:scream: Some turtles may do...no?

Maybe you don't need to have too much complicated textures of its... if your goal is to have spectacular effects with these buildings around her... certainly they're blured a little... and all that kind of effects... some tiling textures of stones, wall, bricks could be sufficient... there's a tone ot them on my website...
...but if you want to do lot of visible details on theirs... you must do something more detailing... and work a lot to do real adaptive and precise textures for each parts... more work of course...
Then, I think that the first solution can works without prob... choice is yours now... GO

Attend attend ! :scream:

***Hold on a second ! Something's bothering since this morning : How comes you're afraid by a snail ???:surprised Even if you meet one very very mean , you can just do a step back and it will takes him a least one half hour to catch you up ... :scream: ***

Sorry for the non french-speaking people, but I won't translate that...too ridiculous...

And I still don't see any update here... do I really have to sing again ? I hate my voice when I do that...

Ok forgive me to spam your thread so much , it's just that I want to see more of your project.
